There's usually only one or two bonesharks in the area, and they tend to stay closer to the wreck you can find a little further to the North). Although they will happily steal the cameras from any scanner room you might build there. The odd stalker will wander across from time to time, but they generally won't bother you unless you bother them. You can build a solar powered base there (the only dangerous wildlife in any kind of number are biters, who can easily be dealt with via the knife if they start annoying you. There's a canyon down to the grassy plains and a small kelp forest just across it. One of my preferred places is a bit to the Northwest of the lifepod (the Aurora is on the East of the map if you haven't got a compass yet) near one of the wrecks in the shallows. There's two geysers in the shallows which make good spots for thermal powered bases they're also close to the kelp forest which is deep enough to make a moonpool practical once you get it (it's handy early game too, you can loot a good supply of titanium and stalker teeth from the nest). Note that you do get the full resources back when you deconstruct something, so building a temporary shelter for things like lockers and battery chargers is fine. I wouldn't recommend it simply because you've got some better spots near at hand.
